On May 1 and 2, the Fill a School Bag Project 2025 reached the remote yet beautiful Sibuyan Island in Romblon to spread joy, support, and essential school supplies to children in need.
Our team arrived early at Canjalon Elementary School to prepare and pray for the day ahead. Children began arriving soon after, some barefoot, others coming from distant mountain areas, and a few without shirts. Despite the intense heat, the turnout was incredible. The children’s excitement and energy made every moment worthwhile.
One of the highlights of the day was the hand-painting activity, which brought out laughter and creativity among the young participants. The school principal and the district supervisor from the Department of Education also delivered inspiring messages that lifted everyone’s spirits.
Thanks to the abundance of donated school supplies and materials, a spontaneous outreach was held the following day at Cantingas River. There, we distributed groceries to the river staff and provided slippers and school supplies to children playing and bathing nearby.
Our team also extended its community service to Sitio Ibid, where we crossed three rivers to reach a small and underserved area. We distributed groceries to 40 families and handed out school kits to the children. It was a truly humbling and heartfelt experience.
This outreach would not have been possible without the generous support of Dermesse Inc., VBP Dermatology Institute, and BDO Silang-Waltermart, along with the dedicated volunteers who also visited Cantingas River Resort and Cresta de Gallo. Special thanks to the Philippine Coast Guard and the local officials for their invaluable assistance throughout the event.
The Fill a School Bag Project in Sibuyan Island was not just about giving. It was about building connections, sharing compassion, and strengthening the community.
